About the Area

Panfilov District is one of the districts of Chui Region, established in 1942. The Kurama rural area is included in the district and is located within Panfilov District of Chui Region.

The area is situated at an altitude of approximately 650–900 meters above sea level. Its total area is 38,824 hectares. As of 2026, the population is 11,608 people.

Kyrgyz, Russians, Kazakhs, Tajiks, Uzbeks and representatives of other nationalities live in the Kurama rural area. The administrative center of the area is Panfilov village.

Borders and Location

The Kurama rural area borders the Frunze rural area to the west and the Orto-Kaiyndy rural area to the east. The distance to the district center is 5 km, to the regional center — 85 km, and to the nearest airport — 110 km.

Historical Significance

Panfilov village is the administrative center of the Kurama rural area. The name of the village is associated with Ivan Panfilov, a hero of the Great Patriotic War.

After the formation of Panfilov District, the village became one of the important administrative and economic centers of the district. Over time, social facilities, educational institutions, cultural organizations and sports infrastructure developed across the area.

Economic Profile

The Kurama rural area has long been an agricultural territory where farming and livestock breeding have traditionally developed. Local residents have cultivated wheat, barley, sugar beet and fodder crops.

In addition, residents of the area are employed in production enterprises, state institutions and private business activities.
